Effective disinfectant and sterilizer

To date, peracetic acid disinfectants remain one of the most commonly used products to eliminate all germs and viruses. It is an excellent alternative as a reagent in the manufacture of caprolactame and glycerol. However, it can also be a good oxidizer for the preparation of epoxy compounds; bleaching agent; sterilizing agent; polymerization catalyst for polyester resins.

For domestic uses, the product is found in stabilized solutions. These mixtures contain acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and water.

As a corrosive substance, it causes watery eyes, extreme discomfort and irritation of the upper respiratory tract in humans even when contact with concentrations as low as 15.6 mg of peracetic acid/m3 (5 ppm) for only 3 minutes.
